Every year since 1988
SLECA has held its Farmers Market and Craft
Festival on the grounds of its Houma office at
2028 Coteau Road in Houma. Over the years it has
become one of the largest such festivals in
southeast Louisiana, attracting hundreds to
thousands of visitors from all over the state.
The majority of crafters are from Houma and
south Louisiana, however, a few are from
out-of-state. Approximately 50 percent of the
crafters are SLECA members.
Booth space is free to SLECA members and $25.00
for non-members. The $25.00 charge helps defray
the cost of advertising. Free parking is offered
to all visitors and admission is free to the
festival. SLECA employees, wearing bright orange
t-shirts, are on hand to welcome visitors and
assist them in any way possible.
Crafts for sale include woodwork of all kinds,
hand sewn and embroidered items, floral wreaths
and arrangements, candles, jewelry ceramics,
seasoning mixes, jellies and preserves, original
artwork and a variety of other handmade items
and, of course, fresh produce.
There’s also a variety of food offered by
vendors in our food court including gumbo,
chicken on a stick, bar-b-que dinners and
sandwiches, onion mums, crawfish boats,
snowballs, dessert tarts and lots more.
A Cajun band also performs throughout the day in
case anyone wants to kick up their heels and
two- step.
The festival is held in the fall, usually on a
Saturday in October from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and
is well advertised in advance.
Anyone interested in setting up a booth should
contact Farmers’ Market Coordinator Elaine
Robertson in SLECA’s Member Services Department
for more information.
